I FEEL SO RIPPED OFF!!! No more shopping for me in SG!!

I was at Vivo with Shuwen the other day and I bought a top at Valerie. Quite a popular store there and guess what? I found the exact same top at a taiwan website selling for only NT$250 (approx S$12). I paid a freaking S$40 for it at Valerie. #&^@!#^!!

I've been tolerating the increasing prices of things in SG and today is the breaking point! No more shopping in SG coz things are not only getting more and more expensive, the things u bought might be offered a lot cheaper somewhere else. This does not only apply to "label-less" stuffs. Certain labels are cheaper on the net (from US) than in their brick and mortar after sharing shipping with ur friends.

Singapore isn't really the best place for shopping deals, at least not for me. Not my paradise! The great singapore sale looks disappointing. No good deals.. mostly stuffs from previous seasons.. sigh.. By far my best experience is Bangkok and its wholesale center Pratunam. Prices are crazy over there and you might find what u usually pay for $30 in SG for to be only $5! Stuffs are equally crazy for guys there too! My bf bagged several sets of quality shirts for only a fraction of the price in SG.

The magazines don't provide any relief to the situation nowadays. I used to flip thru Cleo or Her World or Female to find deals around the island - things that are affordable to normal folks like us. Try flipping thru them now and u might only find them celebrating designer labels with sky-high prices. Have the poverty gap gotten bigger? Are normal folks really affording $300 heels or $8000 designer jewellery? Perhaps its all the advertising fees that the labels are paying them. For one, I've stopped reading them.

I've tried most mags available and only found Seventeen to some extend, relevant. But certain stuff still seemed pretty kiddy in there considering that I'm 22 and I can't really dress like a 16 yr old anymore. When you are 22 and still studying, its pretty much a torture being unable to wear things u can afford and unable to afford things you want to wear.

The only relief is online shopping I guess. No taxes, profiting middlemen etc. I don't really need to go walking around the whole mall to find stuffs. I just click, and in the middle of the night I can still browse and shop. And best of all, stuffs are cheap. Dirt cheap. You won't even mind if u didn't like the design that much later or it doesn't fit that well. At least your pocket is still smiling and so are you.

Spidey-zzz Man

Finally me and my dar can spend a whole day together! The only downside was he was having a fever the night before and hasn't recovered. So after walking around for a whole day we caught Spiderman 3 at Bugis. The show was about 2h30mins long and it was quite dreary. The both of us were on the verge of falling asleep and the real action only began in the last hour of the show. Not much development of the villain and too much of emotional scenes of Mary-Jane, and too much attention on Spidey being on a mean streak because of the black suit. I would only give it a 3 stars despite all the hype. And the story of Sandman was a little contradicting. Oh well, watch it to know it. nuff' said.

My Drugstore Package #1

It finally came! I unwrapped the little thing like a kid on Boxing day would. Even though I knew what I was getting, I was still very excited to see what I've got! I bought quite a number of things:

  • Footherapy Natural Mineral Foot Bath
  • Booth's Green Apple Micro Dermabrasion Scrub
  • Booth's Honey and Almond Hand Scrub
  • 4 Elf eyeshadows
  • Elf Natural Radiance Blusher
  • Rite Aid Anti-Fungal Clomtrimazole
It was so fun unwrapping. Maybe its a first in my life because I used to get to choose my presents most of the time since Primary school. The first thing I did was to try the handscrub. I've always had a problem with my hands. Maybe they worked too hard or I was lacking some vitamins.. I keep growing rough skin around the nails and my nails keep cracking. So I was set to see if the scrub could soften all that rough skin. I didn't like almond (not the nuts, but the almond jelly smell), so I didn't dig the smell of the scrub much. But my hands indeed feel smoother and softer after a brief scrub. *smiles* Money well spent.

Shall try all the others soon. Can't wait for my next 2 packages to arrive!

Examinations

Its my last paper tomorrow. I feel I got through the papers with greater ease than in previous semesters. And I wonder if the reason was strategising? This sem due to the lack of time, I had to plan which chapters were more important than others and skip those not so important ones. I guess this helped alot because the questions examiners come out with can be predicted to a certain extent. I hope I can get better results this time round with all that ease I felt.

Holidays

I will regain my freedom by Thursday and I haven't decided what I should do with it. I need time to reorganise my life (which I find quite pleasureable) and spend sometime for myself to relax and maybe try out volunteering. I've got to get my driving licence too. Waited for examinations to be over cause it was simply too distracting. I wonder if I should go take a part time or something to earn some money for a short trip somewhere? And I've got to settle my FYP. So many things to be done I'm actually fearing the start of my freedom.

Yeah! Finally someone organised an e.l.f. spree and I finally ordered what I wanted to buy! YEAHHHHHH!!!!

Their stuff are so cheap I'm buying them to sample and I hope I find something good despite Irene's discouragement. It doesn't hurt as much as getting other brands anyway. USD1 for every item.

Plus! I've found a great find on drugstore, again.

This is a great balm all-in-one. I've got one for many years in the regular tube packaging (ugly). But this one is so pretty it ROCKS. Its a collector's item according to drugstore and its only approximately $26 to reach my mailbox. Its a steal for an Elizabeth Arden product, and one that has been around since 60 years ago. Amazing.

This is a bad bad experience. I hope no one else will meet this dumb old man on the mrt.

I was on my way home to meet my darling for lunch on Thurs. I had ms3001 that morning and didn't sleep well at night. I fell asleep on the train because I was too tired. Then along came this man dressed in a white polo tee carrying a laptop bag. He is big built with shreaks of grey hair on his head and wears a pair of round framed glasses. He also had obsession with wiping his head with a piece of tissue paper. I was quite asleep and I was swaying to the starts and stops of the train and suddenly he just screamed into my ear, "WAKE UP! DON'T SLEEP ON THE TRAIN! IIF YOU WANT TO SLEEP GO SLEEP ON THE FLOOR OR GO HOME AND SLEEP!"

Well I was quite sure I didn't sway so much that I knocked into him. Nutcase! $%^&%*!!!!!!!! And he didn't even need to shout.

I held my cool and just looked away. Only cursing him in my very tired head. I don't argue with nutcases and I was scared he might hurt me.

So after lunch, I went home and guess what I saw? That same old nutcase. There was a lady seated beside him (same side as I was) and he also turned around to scold her!! WTF. Poor lady. She stared at him as she was getting off the train. And the man also got off. Beware everyone.. he dropped off at CHOA CHU KANG.

It confirmed my claim of him being a nutcase. Why are such people allowed to roam free? Who knows if he might hurt somebody someday? I wish I could run into him again and take a good photo of his face and post it online EVERYWHERE!!!

Booooo~

Why no one opens an e.l.f. spree??

I've been waiting and waiting.. and I hate the fact that I can't open one myself and I have to wait forever for someone to open one.

In case you are wondering what I'm talking about, check this site out:

e.l.f.

I've bought some stuff from drugstore.com but still there are some items not available!

E.l.f. fufilled my fantasy of having makeup in every colour possible (even if I don't use them). One usd is abt S$1.57 and plus shipping to my door step.. each item is less than $3! You can't find such deals on the sunny shores of Singapore.. not anywhere! The ratings for its cosmetics seems good, but maybe not all items, like the all-in-one colour and cover stick, and the earth and water mascara.. but the rest are all worth it for that kind of price.

These are the sites Irene introduced me to. I sort of lost interest in shopping in the malls because I can just lie on my bed and still buy stuff! I can even shop at 4am in the morning, which is impossible if I go to the malls. It is also much cheaper. For e.g. I went to drugstore.com to get this supplement from GNC called GNC Women's Hair, Skin and Nails Formula. It cost me approximately S$16 plus shipping and guess how much I saw it for in GNC in Singapore? S$46 bucks. It really makes me wonder why its so freaking expensive in Singapore! The only bad thing is I've gotta wait like 2 to 3 weeks to get my stuff.
But I'm saving lots of money! It's amazing how much great stuff we are missing out on in Singapore. There's just so many choices out there! Just go take a look, my pals.. I bought all my stuffs through these sites.. hope you find something great there!

I'M ROOTING FOR JORDIN SPARKS!!!

Everyone is talking about Melinda, but frankly, I found her totally boring, stale, predictable. I don't dig her voice at all.

So guys, pay some attention to Jordin Sparks. Fresh, sweet and nonetheless, powerful vocal. I'm really hoping she cut an album.. I'm definitely buying.

I feel this is her best performance. I was so overwhelmed I cried because I was so touched by the words she was singing, not to mention her great voice. Listen Up folks!
